Yesterday Meteo France (French weather) placed our area under an Orange alert due to high winds. I had to fasten my shutters to keep them from banging against the wall, driving me and probably most of the neighbors crazy. Jason is still looking for a solution to those shutters. I don't like them; they're something else I have to learn to use. I guess they are useful for keeping the house cool in the summer heat, but I can't stand the darkness. It was a raw, blowy day, and I was happy, after a very fast morning trip to the post office, to be home for the rest of the day.
I had thought of going to Toulouse today, but there is still too much wind to contend with. I think it must have something to do with the topography here; we're sandwiched in between the Pyrenees and the Montagnes Noires (Black Mountains) and the wind whistles through here. I want to go to Toulouse and do a little sightseeing, and a little shopping, but only when the weather is better. Today I had to get some rinse agent for the dishwasher, so I hopped the #3 bus to the big Carrefour at Pont Rouge. Believe me, I was happy enough when the return bus showed up to bring me back to town. That wind has a bite to it, for sure. (But the dishwasher is once again happy.)
When I was growing up, my grandmother always said of March, "In like a lion, out like a lamb," and vice versa. (We were also supposed to have potatoes planted by St. Patrick's Day.) Here I heard it said that if Christmas was warm and sunny, Easter will be crying. Oh my. Easter is so early this year, so maybe it will be crying. But if today is any indication, the end of March will be glorious! Baa, baa, baa!
I also dislike excessive WIND. However, loved seeing your beautiful bouquet of daffodils. Marian
